Ο Δημήτρης Αρμενάκης είναι σκηνοθέτης και animator, γεννημένος στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε στο Τμήμα Τεχνών Ήχου και Εικόνας του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου, όπου σκηνοθέτησε και την πρώτη animation μικρού μήκους ταινία του με τίτλο «Absorbed» (2017). Αποφοίτησε από το μεταπτυχιακό τμήμα MA Animation στο Royal College of Art του Λονδίνου το 2019, όπου και σκηνοθέτησε δύο ταινίες animation: «First Thirst» (2018) και «All You Can Eat» (2019).

Η ταινία «All You Can Eat» προβλήθηκε σε περισσότερα από 40 φεστιβάλ animation και κινηματογράφου ανά την υφήλιο, όπως τα: Φεστιβάλ Ταινιών Μικρού Μήκους του Λονδίνου, Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ταινιών Animation & Τέχνης των Κόμικς ReAnimania (Ερεβάν, Αρμενία), Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου British Shorts (Βερολίνο), Animateka (Σλοβενία) και Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου της Αθήνας – Νύχτες Πρεμιέρας.

Ήταν υποψήφια στην κατηγορία Καλύτερης Ηχητικής Επένδυσης στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Watersprite (Λονδίνο), Καλύτερης Διεθνούς Αnimation Μικρού Μήκους Ταινίας στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου UWPG (Καναδάς) και στο Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου του Λος Άντζελες.

Aπέσπασε το Βραβείο Καλύτερης Φοιτητικής Ταινίας Animation Στράτος Στασινός της Ελληνικής Ένωσης Κινουμένων Σχεδίων (ΑΣΙΦΑ ΕΛΛΑΣ) και του Ελληνικού Κέντρου Κινηματογράφου. Επίσης απέσπασε ειδική μνεία για τη κατηγορία καλύτερη Ελληνικής ταινίας στο Φεστιβάλ Κινουμένων Σχεδίων της Θεσσαλονικής καθώς και κέρδισε τη 2η θέση στο βραβείο In the Making Animation των βραβείων 1.4 του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου.

Αυτή τη περίοδο εργάζεται στη ταινία “The Synthetic Age” με τη στήριξη του Ελληνικού Κέντρου Κινηματογράφου και παραγωγό την εταιρία Frenel.

Έχει βραβευτεί από την ARTWORKS (2021) και είναι Fellow του Προγράμματος Υποστήριξης Καλλιτεχνών Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος.
